Traveling Fastpitch Coaches Preseason Checklist

Here is a short preseason checklist for traveling coaches and/or team managers:

  • Get or update your concussion training (if it has been 3 years): http://www.sodervilleblaine.org/page/show/265106-sbaa-coach-information#pageElement_350758191
  • Get ACE Certified/Background Screened: https://registerusasoftball.com/Account/Login.aspx?ReturnUrl=%2fdefault.aspx
  • Ensure Assistant coached also get at least background screened via USA Softball.
  • Collect $300 SBAA Fastpitch volunteer fees from each player
  • Get your Coaches Code of Conduct signed.
  • Turn in Coaches Code of Conduct and volunteer fees to Corryn.
  • Register for tournaments.
    • Reminder SBAA Fastpitch will pay for 2 tournaments (outside of state qualifiers, state and nationals) up to $400 each. 
    • Either get a check from Heather Wright (Fastpitch Treasurer) or pay and turn in copy of check and receipt/entry form for reimbursement.
  • Verify all players have uniforms.
  • Attend scheduling meeting for the league and submit schedule to Corryn as soon ASAP (email photo of schedule from meeting)
  • Enter roster on the MN Softball site after scheduling meeting.
    • This is the official roster.  You can download a printable version to bring to tournaments.
  • Attend a coaching clinic (optional) See below.
  • Pick up equipment.  
  • Set up team web page.
  • Familiarize yourself with game day todo list.   
    • Verify you have an umpire for home games (you should get a call 48hrs prior.  See below.) 
    • Get fields chalked by 15min prior to game time (see if a parent or two can help).

Traveling Fastpitch Umpire Information

Your umpire should be at the field at least 15 minutes before the start of the game. If your game is at 6:15 and your ump has not arrived by 6:00, please contact the umpire scheduler assigned to your age group directly. Please contact Corryn Anderson with all other scheduling questions and concerns. Please note that we are now only using one umpire association.

Games are umpired by Midwest Fastpitch umpire association.  Any game changes need to be sent to operations@sodervilleblaine.org as soon as they are known.

Any same day changes need to be emailed to operations@sodervilleblaine.org and texted to 614 843-5197

Traveling Fastpitch Coach Clinics

Moose Director and Coach, Mike Nelson, and possibly other guest speakers, will put on a coach clinic for all our Moose and Bengal Traveling Fastpitch coaches.  8U coaches are welcome to attend also.  Parents interested in learning more about how to coach the game and coaching philosophies are welcome also.  Highly recommended for all coaches and want to be coaches and parent helpers!
