The Blaine Area Traveling Baseball Association (BATBA) provides competitive, traveling baseball opportunities for area youth ages 9 to 16. BATBA supports players who live in the Blaine and Spring Lake Park High School Districts.
Our teams compete in the AAA, AA or A divisions of Gopher State Baseball run by Minnesota Youth Athletic Services. Our main goal is to foster the love of baseball in the children of our community while simultaneously developing an advanced skill set for our players.
The Annual Meeting of the Blaine Area Traveling Baseball Association was held on October 12, 2014 at the Blaine Baseball Complex. The Annual meeting also included Board of Directors' elections.
The organization wishes to recognize our out-going Directors, with special thanks to four who served 5+ years as members of the Board of Directors. These individuals helped to shape our current organization and deserve much credit for the success of our program.
Thanks to Ernie Johnson (President); Carl Nyberg (Treasurer); Pete Riola (Traveling Director) and Carrie Folstrom (Volunteer Coordinator). We will miss you and wish you the best in all you do!
Please help us in welcoming our new Board Members (noted in blue) and thanking those who will continue their terms and/or who were voted to fill a second term.
Following are the 2015 Board of Directors:
Board Meetings are open to all members of the Blaine Area Traveling Baseball Association. Meetings are typically held the second Thursday of each month at 7pm at the Blaine Baseball Complex (Paul Parkway in Blaine). Please feel free to come and hear about the great things happening with baseball in our community. Meetings are posted on the website News Calendar above.

Baseball season may be over, but the work of field preparation for next season has already started.
Rick Fanning, BATBA President, recently led a group of 10-12 Board Members and Coaches through a vigorous improvement plan on the Peterson Fields.
Many were in agreement that our fields were in need of some extra work so volunteer BATBA Board Members and Coaches put in over 100 combined hours of work to make these good fields great for our players.
The Board also agreed to fund approximately $1,000 for this project, which included the following:
Both fields had old aglime and grass imperfections removed.
Both fields now have clean grass lines, including both infield and outfield borders.
Both fields have new aglime and low spots were filled in order to improve drainage.
Both pitching mounds had maintenance done including new clay bricks to help pitchers.
East had a new home plate installed and we re-aligned first base as well.
Tools have been purchased to help maintain the safety and appearance of the fields.
We were fortunate to have great weather the last few weeks and are very happy with our results.
Thanks to all of those who helped to complete this project!
Fall Tryouts were held and teams have been named for the 2015 season. Results can be found on the Tryouts link on the left side of the page.
Team pages will be updated over the next couple of months.
Thanks to all who participated in tryouts and congratulations to all players who were named to teams this fall!
