Our Slammin' 8's Day for 2020 will be Sunday, May 17th

Bring a team or just your child and participate in a clinic/game day for 8U softball players.  They will be instructed by the MN Moose Club Softball coaches and players.  Our Moose players are great role models for these 8U girls!  See the form below for more information and to register.

NOTE:  We are a coach pitch league so coaches will be pitching in the games played at the end of the day.

Teams and players from any community are welcome to attend!!

Soderville Slammin' 8's 2018 - Thanks for a great day coaches, players and Moose volunteers!!

League Description

Players must be 8 years old or younger as of December 31, 2019 in order to be eligible for this age group for the 2020 season.

The 8U softball division is a coach-pitch level using 11 inch softballs. Players begin to learn more of the fundamentals of the game. There is no stealing at this level, but there is usually plenty of offense. There are usually one or two coaches on the field to guide the players during the game.  We call it 8U fastpitch even though the coach is pitching so everyone realizes that our league is a fastpitch league and not a slow pitch league.  They will learn how to pitch the fastpitch way at 10U and may work on the fundamentals of pitching while in 8U, but coaches will pitch at the games.

8U plays on Monday and Wednesday nights on fields in Ham Lake.  They will have alternating games and practices.  The coaches meet with the director to help determine the schedule.  Games are at 6:30pm.

Players will receive a full uniform - shirt, pants, hat and socks and we provide equipment such as bats, helmets and balls. All they need is a glove and whatever shoes they prefer!

Practices start at the end of April (exact date determined by the weather), games start the first week of May, and the season runs through the end of season tournament the weekend of July 10-12; held at the Booster Park fields in East Bethel.

The SBAA 8U league welcomes teams from other communities!

The 8U Soderville Softball league invites teams from other organizations to play with our 8U teams in our league!  We are very excited about this as it gives our teams and other organizations a chance to have more teams to compete and learn with.  For the 2019 season we had  SBAA teams, Anoka Ramsey teams, Forest Lake teams, Andover teams, St Francis teams, Coon Rapids teams and Chisago Lake Teams.  It was a great season for all involved.

To get involved in this league you can contact Corryn or James.  The cost for teams to participate that are outside our organization will be $115 per team.  This will help cover the cost of field maintenance throughout the season and costs associated with the year end tournament.  We have "real" umpires for the tournament games (instead of parents) and hand out trophies and/or medals to everyone who participates.

All games will be played on fields in Ham Lake on M/W evenings at 6:30pm starting the first week of May.  Practices will be held at your own fields.

We would like to know by the end of February if your organization is considering playing with us.  We don't necessarily have to know exactly how many teams you will be signing up at that time, but an approximate would be great.

8U Softball 2020 Year End Tournament

At the end of the season SBAA will set up and direct a tournament for the 8U teams.  All teams will receive trophies or medals for their accomplishments.

This 2020 season tournament dates Friday, July 10th and Saturday, July 11th at East Bethel Booster Park fields.
